Turkey Trot
The Annual Hopkinsville Turkey Trot is a FREE, non-competitive and non-timed 5K that begins and finishes in Downtown Hopkinsville.
The Turkey Trot kicks off at 8:00 a.m. each Thanksgiving morning and welcomes participants of all ages and paces. Registration is not required; however, participants are encouraged to register online prior to race day.
Commemorative Turkey Trot race shirts are available for purchase for $30. Participants wishing to guarantee their preferred shirt size must place their order by November 18, 2026.
A long-standing Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation tradition, the Turkey Trot has become a Thanksgiving morning favorite for families throughout the community.
So, gather your family and friends, lace up your shoes and start your Thanksgiving Day with some fresh air, movement and fun in Downtown Hopkinsville!
The Route
The Hopkinsville Turkey Trot is a non-competitive, non-timed race that begins on Main Street and ends on the Greenway Rail Trail. The event has grown to almost 1,200 participants each year since 2002.

2026 Shirt Logo
Each year, a commemorative shirt is available to collect and wear during the event. Extra shirts are available for purchase the Monday after the event at the Thomas Street Recreation Center.
The Costume Contest
Dressing up in matching shirts or turkey themed outfits and costumes is one of the elements participants look forward to. To honor this tradition, we host a costume contest before the race with the winner selected by audience applause.
