Bluegrass Splash Power Outage Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bluegrass Splash Reopening After Power Outages

Hopkinsville, KY – May 29, 2024 – This weekend, our community experienced a series of severe storms that resulted in significant damage and widespread power outages throughout the surrounding area. The storms impacted multiple Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation facilities including Bluegrass Splash Family Aquatic Center, Tie Breaker Park ballfields, and the Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex. Power has been restored at all three facilities over the last few days and Bluegrass Splash is reopening this morning, Wednesday, May 29th, at 11 a.m.

Power was restored to Bluegrass Splash late yesterday afternoon due to the efforts of Pennyrile Electric, Hopkinsville Electric System (HES), and city and county workers. The following evening and morning was spent with the aquatic center team running safety checks and water tests to ensure a smooth opening. At the present time there will be limited concessions available at both Bluegrass Splash and Tie Breaker Park due to the loss of refrigeration during the outage. A restocking order will be placed to bring the concession stand menu back to full capacity.

We want to extend our gratitude to Pennyrile Electric, Hopkinsville Electric System (HES), and our dedicated city and county workers who have been tirelessly working throughout the weekend to restore power and bring our community back to normalcy. Their efforts have been invaluable, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to all involved in these recovery operations.
