Fort Campbell Memorial Park (Gander Memorial)

Fort Campbell Memorial Park is located at the at the intersection of Pennyrile Parkway and US Hwy 41A in Hopkinsville. It is dedicated to the 248 members from the 3rd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division who perished in a plane crash near Gander, Newfoundland on December 12, 1985. They had just completed a peacekeeping mission in the Sinai Desert. The names of all 248 soldiers are inscribed on the plaques in front of the soldier statue, known as The Peacekeeper. There are also 248 Boxwood shrubs, which serve as a living tribute to the Soldiers.
